15 DATE NIGHT IDEAS

Writer's picture: Emily MoranskiEmily Moranski

It is the week before Valentine’s Day and I am feeling so romantic. I have always loved Valentine’s Day! My dad made it a really special day for me when I was younger. He got me flowers every Valentine’s Day until I got married. So I have never been without flowers on Valentine’s Day.

Moving on to what you are really interested in. DATE NIGHT IDEAS. We love date night and it is so important to our marriage.

Date nights do not have to be extravagant. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on date nights. Heck, you can eat leftovers for date night. The main idea with date night is intentionality with your spouse/significant other.

Our main focus for date night is each other. We have some questions we try ask every date night to be intentional.

  • Asking how their week has been.

  • What are the highs and lows of life right now.

  • What are you learning.

  • What are some of your goals.

These facilitate healthy marriage/relationship conversations to be intentional with your spouse/significant other.

Here are some ideas for date night:

1. Yoga + Wine

  • Grab a bottle of wine, look up beginner acroyoga poses (just google it), and try a couple poses out.

2. Questions

  • This is a great way to be intentional. Google questions to ask your spouse/significant other. There will be about 1,000 that pop up. Spent the date getting to know each other again.

3. Do a puzzle together

  • Sometimes we get stuck watching television for hours together but that doesn’t make space for being intentional with each other. When you do a puzzle together, it lets you work as a team and chat about life.

4. Build a fort

  • Be kids again and build a fort in your living room. Just letting you know ahead of time that it’s a lot harder than you remember.

5. Make a charcuterie board

  • Who doesn’t love cheese and crackers?! This is fun to snack on together as a dinner option.

6. Lame Tourist Date

  • Go visit some of the tourist spots of your current city. I have found that I can live in a city for years but never visit the touristy places.

7. Go visit a winery or brewery

  • Depending on your preference for wine or beer, you can choose together. Going to these places allows you to try new wine or beer, but also allows conversation to flow.

8. Try out a rock climbing gym or exercise class together

  • It can be so fun to be active together and try something new. Is there something you have always wanted to try?! Even if you are horrible at it, it will create a memory you guys can cherish forever.

9. Nerf Gun War

  • I have to admit we have never tried this but it is on my list to try next. My husband is good at ALL sports and I am horrible at sports so I’m assuming he will be amazing at this and I hate to lose.

10. Recreate your 1st date or something from your honeymoon

  • We love to recreate our 1st date! We made pizza together on our first date. We also enjoy recreating a dinner we had on our honeymoon. Bread with an olive oil dipping sauce. YUM!

11. Walk/Hike

  • I highly recommend going on a hike together. Search hiking trails near you. Being in nature is so fun. If you don’t have any hiking trails, take a walk around the park or your street together.

12. Write a steamy story

  • Here’s a little secret! I stole this idea from the Bachelor. What a fun idea though?! Each person write outs a steamy scenario and then read it to each other. Who knows, it might happen?!

13. Try out a new board game

  • My husband and I are total board game nerds. So our top recommendations for two people games would be Ticket to Ride or Phase 10. We played these a lot during quarantine.

14. Target Date Night

  • You go to target and separate in the store to find these items: favorite snack, favorite drink, something they need, something they want, something for the house, something to try. Then reveal the items back at home. Check out my Instagram TV to see what we did for this date.

15. Masterclass

  • Take a class together and learn something new. We were able to borrow my sister-in-law’s login for masterclass and learn all about wine tasting.

Now, go be merry and enjoy date night!!
